Faster Cast Rate
|By increasing Faster Cast Rate you will be able to cast more spells in less time.|
Faster Cast Rate is a Stat in Diablo 2. Faster Cast Rate is represented in percentage, to determine the rate of fire of spell attacks. Faster Cast Rate can be modified equiping items to reduce the cast time. Of course, throwing more spells in less time will increase your damage per second against your Enemies. That's why adjusting the Cast Rate for your Build is important. The cooldown of your spells will not be affected by any modifications to your Cast Rate, but it will make a big difference to spells that don't have any Casting Delay.
Some skills have a Casting Delay which is a small period of time that you have to wait to be able to use the same skill again, a cooldown. But you can still cast other spells while waiting to avoid getting to passive during battle. Some Casting Delays are connected, this means that some spells share the same cooldown time, a none of the Casting Delay connected spells can be used when one of them is on cooldown.
Base Cast Parameter
The Base Cast Parameter is a value that each Class owns indicated as follows:
The Sorceress Lightning and Chain Lightning Base Cast Parameters are independent from the rest of the Sorceress spells.
Effective Cast Rate
The Faster Cast Rate can be used to calculate the Effective Cast Rate as follows:
Faster Cast Rate × 120
Faster Cast Rate + 120
= Effective Cast Rate (Rounded Down)
Where "Faster Cast Rate" is the value given in the game.
Faster Cast Rate can exceed 200% but Effective Cast Rate cannot exceed 75. This means that having more than 200% Faster Cast Rate won't affect your rate of fire for your spells.
Cast Rate in Frames
The Cast Rate in Frames is the most concrete measure of speed, which consists in measuring the Cast Time of Spells in frames of animation. Cast Rate in Frames is calculated as follows:
256 × Base Cast Parameter /
Cast Animation Speed Value × (100 + Effective Cast Rate)
= Cast Rate in Frames
This means, as Faster Cast Rate increases, the Cast Rate in Frames decreases.
The Diablo 2 Resurrected timings of combat events are set at 25 FPS (Frames per Second) even though graphically the rendered FPS are not limited, other than by the power of your console/gpu, and can reach much higher values. But we can say that the 'Effective' FPS are still 25, and this is the value that matters to us when we speak of Faster Cast Rate and Cast Rate in Frames. There's no smaller fraction of time in which combat events can happen, meaning that the Cast Rate in Frames with respect to Faster Cast Rate will only be affected at certain Breakpoints, so you will reach the benefit of increasing your Faster Cast Rate only when you reach those Breakpoints.
Faster Cast Rate Breakpoints
Each caster has different Faster Cast Rate Breakpoints depending on their class and their form. The Lightning and Chain Lightning spells of the Sorceress have independent Breakpoints. Below you will find the amount of Faster Cast Rate in percentage to cast your spells at the corresponding Cast Rate in Frames on the top.
|Caster||Cast Rate in Frames|
|Lightning and Chain Lightning (Sorceress)||-||-||-||-||0%||7%||15%||23%||35%||52%||78%||117%||194%||-||-||-||-|
|Sorceress (all other spells)||-||-||-||-||-||-||-||-||-||-||0%||9%||20%||37%||63%||105%||200%|
Remember to consider that the Casting Delays will not be affected by Faster Cast Rate.
