Paladin Builds for Diablo 2 covers many popular and niche builds for the Paladin, one of the seven available Classes in the game. Paladin Builds in Diablo 2 usually use one of three Skill Lines to focus on, and those are: Paladin Combat Skills, Defensive Auras, and Offensive Auras. Builds can of course dip into other Skill Lines, but they will usually focus around 1 or 2 Skills, increasing other Skills in those Skill Trees, since doing so generally passively increases the effectiveness of the main Skill you are focusing on.

Best Diablo 2 Paladin Builds

  1. Hammerdin - This Build uses the Blessed Hammer ability to devastating results, optimizing 100% around this Skill.
  2. Holy Fire Paladin - A great beginner Build that can carry you through Normal using the Holy Fire Skill to AoE enemies.
  3. Smiter - A Paladin Build that uses the Smite to bash enemies in the face.

Paladin Builds for Diablo 2

The Best Paladin Builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected. These Paladin Builds are extremely relevant in 2021, and perfect for your D2 Resurrected experience. Starting with our very own Holy Fire Paladin Build, which is an Aura Paladin that focuses on dealing damage with Holy Fire and Molten Zeal, and working towards more end game focused Builds, you can find what you need on this page. This Build is a very good Leveling Paladin Build, as it works from relatively early on in the game, and can carry you through Normal with ease. If you're new to playing Paladin then this is a great choice for you!

Paladin Build | Holy Fire

The Engulfed in Flames Paladin focuses on the Holy Fire Offensive Aura, which does periodic fire damage to all Enemies around you and adds Fire Damage to your melee attacks. We will also be using the Zeal Combat Skill, which allows us to quickly attack multiple times.

Combining Zeal with Holy Fire allows us to deliver very fast melee attacks that are enhanced with Fire Damage and melts though most Enemies early on in Diablo 2 Resurrected. When fighting against large groups of Enemies the AoE damage will deal with weaker Enemies while you use Zeal to take down the bigger threats.

The Holy Fire skill is unlocked at level 6, allowing you to start putting together the Engulfed in Flames Paladin Build very early after you begin Diablo 2 Resurrected. And, one of the best things about this Build is that most of your damage comes from the Holy Fire skill, meaning that you won't be dependent on equipment, which can be very limiting for a new player.

It's important to note that this build will only remain viable through the first difficulty (Normal) and up to around Lvl 40. You can still run through Nightmare difficulty if you insist, but I wouldn't recommend it as you'll find much better options at that point in the game.

If you are a new player, I strongly advise you save the respec that you get from completing the first Quest Den of Evil. By doing so, you will be able to talk to Akara and respec your character into a different build once you reach Nightmare difficulty.

Blessed Hammer Paladin Build | Hammerdin

While playing the Hammerdin in Diablo 2 Resurrected, you will quickly teleport to your Enemies and spam Blessed Hammer. This Skill invokes a Hammer that spins around the Paladin, dealing massive damage to all Enemies it comes into contact with, decimating very large group of Enemies in mere seconds. The damage output for each hammer can go from 12k to 15k damage. This insane amount of damage, will allow you to clear most enemy groups easily, even on 8 players games.

Using the Teleportation skill combined with max Faster Cast Rate allows you to move through the map at immense speed, and this is granted to you by the Enigma Runeword. If you don't have or can't manage to obtain Enigma, you can instead use the Vigor Defensive Aura to enhance your walking speed. Note that you must walk, because running lowers your Block capacity considerably.

While attacking, you will need to swap your Teleport skill with the Concentration aura, as this aura greatly increases the damage done by Blessed Hammer. Keep in mind, that if you are playing on controller, you can have these abilities mapped to different buttons.

Similar to other Paladin builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected, the Hammerdin is a very tanky build. Using the Holy Shield skill allows you to reach max block without having to invest many points in Dexterity, which means, there are more points available to invest in Vitality. This build can perform any run of the game without major problems.

The biggest drawback this build has, is how expensive and specific gear in order to be played properly. Unlike other builds, you won't be able to start with budget gear and then slowly progress by changing or upgrading certain pieces.

Hammerdin Stats

  1. Strength: 151 (the max. required to use some gear)
  2. Dexterity: Enough to reach max block (that's it 75%)
  3. Vitality: Spend all the rest here.
  4. Energy: Don't spend points on Energy.

  1. Blessed Aim x20
  2. Blessed Hammer x20
  3. Charge x1
  4. Cleansing x1
  5. Concentration x20
  6. Defiance x1
  7. Holy Bolt x1
  8. Holy Shield x10/20
  9. Might x1
  10. Prayer x1
  11. Smite x1
  12. Vigor x20
