Locations or Acts in Diablo 2 covers the different places in the world that the players can explore. Diablo 2 allows players to explore the world of Sanctuary that is divided in 5 different Regions (1 per act): Each Act has a Town, which is a safe zone, where players first appear when entering the Act, most NPCs and Merchants are found on Towns. The player may find waypoints around different areas of the Act, that serve as fast travel to quickly move from a waypoint to another, every waypoint needs to be activated first to be available to use.
Hell Difficulty changes (Patch 2.4)
Monster Level in Hell Difficulties have been increased to 85 in the following Locations.
- Swampy Pit (Level 1, 2 & 3)
- Disused Fane
- Ruined Temple
- Forgotten Reliquary
- Kurast Sewers (Level 1)

Act 1 or Act I: The Sightless Eye in Diablo 2, is the first Act and the starting point of the game. The player will begin Act 1 in Rogue Encampment which is a town within a fortress, where the player can get their first Quests by talking to NPCs.

Act 2 or Act II: The Secret of the Vizjerei in Diablo 2, is the second Act and can be accesed by completing the Sisters to the Slaughter quest from Act 1. The player will begin Act 2 in Lut Gholein, which is a trading port and the largest city in the game.

Act 3 or Act III: The Infernal Gate in Diablo 2, is the third Act and all its locations can be accessed by completing the The Seven Tombs quest from Act 2. The player will begin the Act in Kurast Docks which have been corrupted by Mephisto.

Act 4 or Act IV: The Harrowing in Diablo 2 is the fourth Act and can be accessed by completing The Guardian quest from Act 3. The player will begin the Act in Pandemonium Fortress, which is the last outpost of Heaven at the gates of Hell.

Act 5 or Act V: Lord of Destruction in Diablo 2, is the fifth and last Act, and can be accessed by completing the Terror's End quest from Act 4. The player will begin the Act in Harrogath, which is the last stronghold helf by Barbarian defenders.
