Crafting in Diablo 2 covers the various elements of the crafting mechanics for the game. Players can find detailed information on an item's recipe in order to craft a specified item. As you progress through the game, explore various locations, and kill Enemies and Bosses, you'll be able to acquire various Materials and unlock recipes to create new gear such as Weapons, Armor and Accessories.
Important Note: With the release of Patch 2.4 players can use the current Horadric Cube recipes for upgrading Unique items, but now you can use the same capability for upgrading Set items. This can add more possibilities by using lower-level Set items for more character builds.
Horadric Cube Recipes
It is a Quest Item that can be acquired during The Horadric Staff Quest in Act II and can be used to complete several quests. Also, the Horadric Cube can be also used as a permanent backpack to store additional items and create new ones.
How to use it
Place the Horadric Cube in your inventory. It only takes up 2x2 slots. Place Items into the Horadric Cube by picking them up, dragging them over the Horadric Cube, and left click on the Horadric Cube. You will hear a sound when the item is placed into the Cube. You can also pick the Horadric Cube, drag it over a large Item you want to pick up, and left click on that item to place it into the Cube. You can also open up the Cube by right clicking on it like a Tome. Drag items from your inventory into the Cube. A new inventory for the cube will open.
Now to really use it you just put in the ingredients of the recipe and hit the transmute button (right click the Horadric Cube and hit the button right below it's inventory.)

This recipe adds 1-4 sockets to the armor, making it potentially useful for a Runewords. The game always rolls for up to 6 sockets with this recipe. The amount of sockets is then capped to the maximum amount that particular item can have. Armor that can only have up to 2 sockets would therefore have a 1/6 chance of 1, and a 5/6 chance of 2.

+2 to a character's skills is a lvl 90 modifier, so can not be achieved with this recipe (level 99 char = ilvl 74 amulet)
+3 to a given skill mods are lvl 60, and can be achieved with this recipe, providing the rings and the character are fairly high level.

Note that the cube is only 12 spaces in size, and with 6 Perfect Skulls there's no room for 2x4 items such as large Bows/xbows, Polearms, Spears, etc.

These can be used multiple times on the same weapon, which allows one to re-do the roll if the new weapon is not of the desired quality or has only one socket.
